His dragon has never appeared. Until now, that is. One fateful day, Ash's dragon awakes in full glory, but appears different than any dragon ever seen before—in the form of a beautiful girl! What's worse, Ash soon discovers that this new dragon has attitude to spare, as she promptly informs him that she is the master, and he, the servant. Wake Up, Girls! Official Trailer

On June 10, the official site for the anime project Wake Up, Girls! Progress on the anime is starting to heat up.

Wake Up, Girls! is a new anime by director Yutaka Yamamoto, who also worked on the anime Lucky Star. The anime is picking up attention for bringing together other staff from Lucky Star, including Touko Machida, who is in charge of the script and composition, and Satoru Kousaki (Monaca), who is in charge of the music.

The election of seven voice stars for the main cast, who were decided on at an audition last fall, is also picking up a lot of attention. Even though the official site has just opened, information on the main cast has already been revealed. Also, director Yamamoto, Machida, and Kousaki, as well as voice actress Emiri Kato will appear at Wonder Festival 2013 on July 28 at a special event. During this event, the chosen seven voice stars will be announced for the first time.

Wake Up, Girls! is a coming of age story that takes place in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, Tohoku, and follows girls who are aiming to become idols. The seven characters, some of whom carry wounds on their hearts and some of whom are searching for a place to belong, will confront the conflicts and troubles they carry with them each day. This success story depicts these seven girls, who are mutually opposite of each other, as they combine their power and move forward one step at a time toward reaching their goals. The main cast consists of seven voice stars who broke through the over 2,000 applicants from across Japan who auditioned to rise to the top. However, each one has no experience in the field of voice acting. Aiming to have their debut very soon, the girls are completely devoting themselves to the work, doing nothing but relentless lessons. Viewers’ feelings toward the anime may become stronger due to this too.

Speaking on this anime, director Yamamoto explained, “This anime is set in Miyagi Sendai, and from ‘Tohoku,’ the energetic and free girls are dramatically portrayed. The seven girls come together, and though mixed with humanity and the human condition, they aim for the brilliant idol stage, behaving in earnest. Please watch and support these dazzling and beautiful girls.” With the staff of Lucky Star getting together again after six years, the main cast was decided upon. Thereafter, the main visual of the girls looking down on the city of Sendai was released. Keep an eye out for more information on this anime to come.
